Constable Adam Wiringi, 34, was posted at Kiara police station in February 2007 when he arrested 22-year-old David Barnard, who was riding a BMX bike without a helmet.
The officer allegedly rugby-tackled Mr Barnard, injuring him to the extent that he broke his teeth and required a steel plate wired to his jaw.

After he failed to comply, Mr Armstrong said police engaged in a chase, during which the man crashed his bike into a police car and fell off, before taking flight again.
